Using awareness of the body to deal with anger

Dealing with anger can be one of the hardest emotions to help a person deal with. How can we help them change a perspective in this case?

Coaching with the body. Go into the emotion totally, feel it and tell me about what they are experiencing in their body. It stops consuming them—they are no longer controlled by it, but are able to master. Create awareness of what’s going on in the body.

When we persist in the emotional state, we are resisting change. “I’m angry at myself for being angry! It feels like a dead-end.” The coach is not wrapped up in the anger. They are fighting the anger, so let them experience being fully angry before they can move on.
