As a person thinks in his heart, so is he.

It is the content of human thinking that makes the difference between misery and happiness. What matters is not the event, but how a person appraises and evaluates the event. What occurs outside him does not make him joyful or wretched, angry or benevolent, peaceful or turbulent. What he believes about the event makes all the difference.

Here’s the good news: if you will learn to tell yourself the truth, learn to believe it “up front” where you live, rather than stow it in some file labeled “pure doctrine” (to be pulled out when you need to argue with someone) you can control your own happiness and defeat the wile of the enemy. That is why Jesus said, “The truth will make you free.”
